It’s Easy to Turn Your Blog into a Monetized Affiliate Marketing Blog

So you love to blog, right? You are into affiliate marketing, right? Well, here are some simple steps for you to turn your blog into an Affiliate Marketing Blog that is Monetized.

Ok, so what does that even mean? It means you can start using your blog to help you make money online. Let’s start with a couple definitions…

Dictionary.com defines a Blog as a website containing a writer’s or group of writers’ own experiences, observations, opinions, etc., and often having images and links to other websites.

Wikipedia.org defines Affiliate Marketing as a type of performance-based marketing in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought by the affiliate’s own marketing efforts.

So now that we have that out of the way let’s get to it.

Step 1 Start a Blog and Begin Creating Amazing Content

If you already have a blog, great. If not, you need to get one. A good free blogging platform is blogger.com. A good paid blogging platform is Kalatu.  As you might imagine, there are many benefits to using a paid platform, but that is a topic for another post.

As far as content creation is concerned, you can write about pretty much anything that comes to mind. I would recommend writing about topics that are close to your heart. The more passionate you are about a topic, the easier it is to write. Don’t feel that every article needs to be perfect, but do make sure the content provides value to your readers. If you are having trouble figuring out what to write, you can check out How to Choose a Blog Topic That Makes Money from Obstacle.co. It is a good idea to make sure that the majority of your blog posts relate to your affiliate company (see Step 2.) Also see my related article How to Develop Amazing Blog Post Ideas.

Step 2 Join an Affiliate or Direct Sales Company

There are literally thousands of programs available online today. I am going to make the assumption that you have one in mind or are already a rep for a company you want to promote.

Step 3 Add a Lead Capture Form to Your Blog

For information on lead capture forms (or LCFs) check out my article 3 Essential Tools for the Network Marketer. A good free option is Mailer Lite.  Programs such as Mailer Lite are sometimes referred to as autoresponders. Here is the link…

In the same program you choose to create your LCF, you will also need to create a “list.” The idea is that as potential prospects or customers fill out your LCF, they will be automatically added to the list you link to the LCF in your autoresponder. Finally you will need to create one or more emails that will be automatically sent to your prospects once they submit your LCF. Once you have your LCF and email series ready, you can place the HTML code for the form on your blog. This is a little more technical and the the steps to do this vary depending on the type of blog you have.

Step 4 Get Your Hands on a Freebie

This can be a PDF download, a product sample or other offer that you will give to your prospects for completing your lead capture form. It just helps to increase your opt-in rate. Your freebie should be related to the content of your blog (in general) and your affiliate or DS program.

Step 5 Place a Few Banners For Your Affiliate or DS Program On the Blog Sidebar

The busier your blog becomes, visitors will see these ads and potentially join your affiliate program or purchase from your Direct Sales company. I caution you, do not put too many ads on your site or it will detract from your content.

Step 6 Drive Traffic to Your Blog

This can be done in many  ways. I mostly use SEO, email marketing and social media to promote my blog. For tips on driving traffic to your blog see How to Drive Traffic To Your Blog and Guide to Guest Blog Posting. Stay tuned to future articles for additional tips on promoting and how to drive traffic to your blog. For purposes of this article, let’s just say the more traffic you can get to your blog, the higher your success rate will be.

How It All Comes Together

Once you have the pieces in place you can begin implementing your plan. You will  write amazing blog articles on a regular basis and get visitors to your blog to read your articles. Some visitors will choose to complete your lead capture form to receive the freebie you offer or simply to stay connected with you because they love your content. These visitors will then become prospects on your list. Using your autoresponder, you will send the freebie as well as your automated email series. In the footer of the emails and even in the email sidebar you will place offers for your affiliate program or DS products. Some prospects will see the offer and join your affiliate program and become a member of your team and that’s how you make money. Each time you publish a new article, make sure to send your list an update so they will visit your blog over and over again. You will begin to build trust with your prospects by providing them with great content on a consistent basis. More trust means increased potential for adding prospects to your affiliate team. Finally, you can email your list from time to time with special offers thus creating additional income opportunities. Remember, this process takes time as you begin to build your brand and build trust with your readers. So, there you have it. You may think this all sounds a bit too complicated, but you can do it and soon you will begin earning from your newly monetized affiliate marketing blog.

To Your Success,

Bob Swetz
